Consciously we make the decision to act.
By acting we show others that we have acted. We create a concrete, visible
object that others can witness when we create. When we reach out to perform
a personal act in the immense space of the world we offer proof that such
action is possible, we reinvest in the belief that human action is possible,
important, formative for the world.
We produce a personal statement by acting in the world, a commentary on the
world. We manifest personal vision and imply all personal vision. We create
a world that is not impenetrable and impersonal, but the creation of repeated
acts, occurring continuously, kept in place by such acts. Simply by changing
the picture briefly we imply that the entire picture can be changed completely,
that the picture is continuously susceptible to change.
By acting in the world we show that the world is a canvas for our personal
actions, that we describe a world that we choose and call it into being.
